Tom Bahti |
Tom Bahti was a graduate of the Anthropology
Department at the University of New Mexico. He owned a shop in Tucson where he
worked as a dealer and collector of Native American artwork. The shop is now
operated by his son, Mark.
Bahti was recognized as being an expert on
Southwestern Native American arts and crafts, and was extensively involved in
the community in regards to Native American organizations. He judged many Native
American art exhibits and also lectured about them.
As an effort to help improve the welfare if his
fellow Native Americans, he participated actively in organizations dedicated to
helping those in need.
In addition to his many accomplishments, he also was
the author of Southwestern Indian Arts and Crafts and Southwestern
Indian Tribes. |
